Elton John reached No.1 on the UK singles chart with “Are You Ready For Love” on the 31st of August 2003. Recorded in 1977, the song was released in 1979, and went to No. 42. Sky TV used it for their football advertisements in the Premiership.
“Are You Ready for Love” is a song recorded by Elton John in 1977. It was released as the first single from the EP The Thom Bell Sessions, in 1979. Written by LeRoy Bell, Thom Bell, and Casey James, the song was produced by Thom Bell.
In 2003, Ashley Beedle remixed “Are You Ready for Love”. On August 25, 2003, it was released as a 12-inch vinyl single. After John performed the song in a TV commercial for Sky Sports promoting the new 2003–04 football season, it became his sixth No. 1 hit. Both the full-length 1979 version of “Are You Ready for Love” and “Three Way Love Affair” from the original EP are featured on the B-side of the 2003 single. A QuickTime version of the song’s video, with studio footage from 1977, in which John recorded his vocals, is also included on some CD editions.
A number of popular R&B performers of the late 1970s, including Bell and James, John Edwards, and MFSB, contributed backing and lead vocals to The Thom Bell Sessions mixes of the song. Kate Dawkins directed the music video, which was produced in a 1970s retro style.
