Aerolinea, a Pan-American indie pop duo, released their new track “Nervous”, previewing their debut album “All We Need” (out Nov. 28, via My Long Wknd Records), which also sees a guest appearance by Failure drummer Kellii Scot. Aerolinea, who debuted with the single What Moves You, creates music for romantics and misfits, for late nights and strange places, with passionate tandem lyrics, intertwining guitars, and rhythms that alternately groove and surprise.
Aerolinea consists of Argentinian artist Victoria Real and Eric Weissinger of Atlanta dream-gaze duet I Am a Rocketship, who are both songwriters, vocalists, and multi-instrumentalists. What started as an Instagram message in April 2023, evolved into a year of file sharing and meet-ups in Florida and Argentina. The two became acquainted during the pandemic through a chance meeting while performing at the NMER Music Festival (organised by No Me Escucho Records), which sparked the formation of Aerolinea.
The song ‘Nervous’ begins with a simple guitar line over a minimal kick and snare drum, followed by a repeating distorted riff:
”Nervous’ is a different way of describing feeling alone. We need connections, and when you’re missing a connection, you start to doubt yourself, and not feel complete. You worry. The song is more about the subject’s emotions, and you don’t know anything about who they miss”, says Eric Weissinger.
Victoria Real adds: “Nervous is the feeling we wanted to express here. Like a hunch that something is out of place. We put music and lyrics to it to evoke that feeling and thereby also evoke instant relief when expressed and channeled in this song”.
Victoria Real, polished her musical skills under the guidance of King Crimson guitar icon Robert Fripp, first as a Guitar Craft student and later with the League of Crafty Guitarists. As a solo artist, she recorded four albums, with a fifth record in production. In 2021, she won the “Artist Revelation Rock of the Year” award at the Cordoba Entertainment Awards (Premios CIEyA), and was nominated for “Artist of the Year” and “Rock Artist of the Year” in 2023 and 2024.
Eric Weissinger, released five albums and an EP with I Am a Rocketship. Before forming this duo, he was a bassist for Anne Richmond Boston (DB Recs). As a bassist, guitarist and singer in this and other projects, he has opened for numerous notable bands, including The Black Crowes, James, The Wedding Present, Cracker and Portastatic.
“Nervous’ is available on fine digital platforms, including Bandcamp, where Aerolinea’s ‘All We Need’ album is available for pre-order via My Long Wknd Records. Aerolinea will be touring Argentina, Chile and Brazil in the new year, kicking off at Buenos Aires’ Bar Carnal on January 11.
