The guitarist and composer Alessandro De Fusco, released his new single. Oltre le Cime (Beyond the Peaks), is an instrumental piece of music for solo guitar, that takes the listener on a journey beyond the instrument’s boundaries. De Fusco expertly arranged themes and arpeggios, drawing inspiration from classical guitar techniques. The artist then reinterpreted it on electric guitar, resulting in a unique musical interaction between past and present, tradition and innovation.

The clear and refined sound, enveloped by delicate sonic environments, evokes the dizzying heights of mountain peaks and the grandeur of centuries-old trees, symbolizing the desire to push beyond both visible and invisible limits.

Oltre le Cime, is very authentic piece of music. Could you try to describe the story behind the song?

Alessandro De Fusco: Hi Katarina, thank you for this beautiful interview.

Oltre le Cime is my new single, which evokes sounds inspired by my last trip to the mountains. Managing to reach the top in less than two hours on an expert trail… was a great challenge, which allowed me to understand how important it is to challenge ourselves to go further and improve in everything we do.

You appear to be an artist who is always motivated by new methods of performing classical solo guitar. What does it mean to you when it comes to the music you make, particularly when it comes to this new song?

Alessandro: I believe that in every person there is no limit, so in music or in sports. I love being able to take every sound from my guitar and study every genre that at that moment of my life I am listening to.

Could you tell us more about this specific sound you created in this song? Does the sound depend on the guitar you’re using? Is there a particular guitar that inspires you these days?

Alessandro: The sound in question comes from my love for cinema, so creating a very “ambient” sound so as to be like a background. The timbre that I was able to create is thanks to the beautiful creations of the Luthier: Enzo Pascariello of the “MAPLE HANDMADE GUITARS” lutherie, with whom I collaborated in the last two Expos: “Guitar Show” in Padua and the “Guitar Sciò” in Salerno.

Many interesting music events have taken place since our previous interview. For example, you opened the concert of the great Neil Zaza. What kind of experience has this performance provided for you as an artist, and for you as a music fan, as well?

Alessandro: Well the experience of meeting and opening the concert to the great Neil was fantastic! He was very interested in my music and we had long chats about the world of guitar and the Nerd world of musical instruments and technology. This experience taught me a lot, he is an extraordinary musician above all very humble and available with the public, an aspect that I like and represents me, I will take him as an example!

On the 21st of September at the Lizard Academy, you gave a masterclass to the students. How did it go, and what was it all about?

Alessandro De Fusco: In the last masterclass I held in the new Lizard structure it was fantastic! I spoke about “Songwriting”, and it attracted all kinds of musicians, curious kids, full of questions and so many curiosities that made me very happy to be able to answer them and leave a part of me in this experience.

Aside from this new song, is there any new project on its way? Do you also have plans for some new live shows?

Alessandro De Fusco: Yes, there are new projects and new live shows planned but everything still needs to be planned and started, in fact I can’t wait to get back into the studio and on stage, which like every year starts in December.

‘Oltre le Cime’ is now available on all digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon.
