After releasing a three-song EP called “Gothica Fennica Vol. 1” in March 2020, Ville Valo shared the new single/video “Loveletting“, under the VV banner, also announcing the Neon Noir World Tour. The tour is scheduled to take off from Helsinki, on the 13th of January, 2023. Ville Valo’s first solo album, Neon Noir, will be released at the beginning of 2023.

The song “Loveletting” is composed and produced by Ville Valo. Valo has also played and recorded all the instruments. According to the artist, Loveletting musically combines the sensitivity he learned from Agents with the “noise barrier of HIMpuls“, adding a touch of 80s aesthetics to the whole story.Lyrically, the song is once again on the verge of extremes, on the dreamlike border of letting go and holding on“, Valo explains.

“Artistically speaking, the main difference between HIM and VV is the extra line in the Heartagram, but what an exquisite line it is! It’s the “Mamas and Papas” dressed up as “Metallica” on their way to a Halloween bash at “Studio 54”, and now, who wouldn’t want to witness that?”, Ville adds.

Further details around Neon Noir will be released in due course. In the meantime, VV’s headline tour dates are taking place next year across Europe, the UK and North America. Tickets go on sale  April 11 at 10:00AM CET (Europe) and April 15 at 10:00AM local time (US)

Valo began his career playing bass and drums in various bands in Helsinki. HIM released eight studio albums in a career lasting over 25 years. The band achieved countless rankings, radio hits, platinum and gold records, Emma statues and Grammy nominations.

On 5 March 2017, HIM announced that the band would be disbanding following a farewell tour in 2017. The band played its final show on New Year’s Eve 2017 as a part of its annual Helldone Festival.

In August 2018, Valo reunited with Agents to record songs by Finnish singer-songwriter Rauli “Badding” Somerjoki. Their self-titled album was released on 15 February 2019, and it debuted at number one on the Finnish Albums Chart, going gold in less than a week. The group began a Finnish tour which concluded in August 2019. At the 2019 Radio SuomiRock awards ceremony, Ville Valo & Agents received the award for Rock Achievement of the Year, while “Ikkunaprinsessa” was named Song of the Year. They also received three Emma Award nominations.

On 20 March 2020, Valo released the EP Gothica Fennica Vol. 1, under the moniker VV. Two of its three tracks charted in Finland. Valo was later named Artist of the Year at the Radio SuomiRock awards ceremony, while “Run Away from the Sun” received the award for Song of the Year.
